Groin Strains in Hockey Players – Prehab Exercises: Valslide Lateral Lunges
Check out one of our favorite exercises to help prevent groin strains!
We need to make our adductors nice and strong because the strength of the adductors relative to the abductors of the hips is a big part of managing risk for a groin injury.
The Valslide Lunge is a great exercise for skating athletes because it better mimics skating comparatively to a lateral lunge in which you are stepping out to the side.
If you don’t have these valslides, you can use socks on a hard floor, but be careful! Start slow and make sure you sit back nice and deep and try to keep the toes of the foot on the valslide facing forward.
Give 4 sets of 8 a try and let us know what you think!
