Plantar Fasciitis Rehab – Intrinsic Foot Training Pt. 2
Check out one of our favorite exercise for your foot muscles to help recover from Plantar Fasciitis!
Last time we gave you a great exercise to strengthen the intrinsic extensor groups of the foot, today we are going to work on the intrinsic flexor group! As we previously talked about, strengthening this set of muscles further supports your arch, allows for more adaptation through functional activities, and reduces the likelihood of further injury.
Our favorite exercise to address this group is called towel rolls/toe curls. To perform this, you should:
1. Grab a towel or theraband and lie it flat on the floor
2. With no ankle movement, use just your toes to pull the towel/band closer to you
3. To make this exercise more difficult, you can add weights to the end of the towel to make it more difficult to drag (a roll of tape was used in this video)
4. Once the band can’t scrunch up anymore, flatten it back out and start over again!
