Golf Swing – Feet Together Drill
What can I do to focus on my trunk to help generate power during my swing?
How do you do it?
(1) Starting with your feet together, align the golf ball between the middle of your feet.
(2) During the swing, show the target the “back and front of the numbers on your jersey” on the downswing and follow-through.
(3) This cue ensures that you are rotating your body enough to facilitate hip and knee movement as you would during a normal swing.
(4) While hitting the ball, think about “clipping the head of a dandelion” which encourages you to hit down on the ball.
Why is this important?
This drill takes away the tendency to sway back during your swing and focuses on generating your power from your hips. When there is an issue with timing, you will notice difficulty making contact with the ball and the swing could feel awkward. This is a great drill to start with if you notice your golf game starting to suffer and you cannot pinpoint the origin of your swing difficulties.
