Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow) – Special Test

If you suspect that you may have lateral epicondylitis, there is an easy special test that can be done at home called Cozen’s Test to see if you should start a rehabilitation program.

To perform this test you should:

  1. Extend your elbow & wrist and place your wrist into radial deviation (point hand toward side of your thumb).
  2. Now have a parent, sibling, or roommate push down on your hand in this position while you try to resist against them.
  3. If you have pain over the lateral epicondyle of your elbow while resisting this motion, then you may have lateral epicondylitis or Tennis Elbow.
