Targeting Obliques Optimally


Check out our favorite exercise that optimally targets your obliques in order to make greater gains!



Based on their anatomy & actions, the optimal way to target our obliques is through rotation. Our favorite exercises that incorporate rotation & take advantage of the diagonal fiber orientation of these muscles are Chops & Lifts:


Chops:
1. Setup up a cable or band higher than head when half kneeling
2. Half kneel w/ cable or band to left & right knee up
3. Keep hips facing forward
4. Holding handle, rotate only trunk down & to right
5. Complete 10-15 reps
6. Switch so cable or band is to right
7. Repeat


Lifts:
1. Setup up a cable or band lower than hips when half kneeling
2. Half kneel w/ cable or band to left & right knee up
3. Keep hips facing forward
4. Holding handle, rotate only trunk up & to right
5. Complete 10-15 reps
6. Switch so cable or band is to right
7. Repeat
